Founding partners, Pete & Robert, have spent the past 20+ years working in the action sports industry and also grew up surfing, snowboarding, cycling and being active in the outdoor community. After spending years at trade shows dedicated to these industries and realizing the only options for food was typically hot dogs, burgers, & pizza, the idea for a healthy alternative to serve at these events was born.
The first trailer was purchased in August 2015 and a long, successful week at Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City, UT ensued. The response was overwhelming, and they spent the following year learning how to build the best Acai Bowl out there, focusing on healthy, superfood ingredients. The simplicity of the Aloha Acai Bowl they now serve is the perfect mixture of whole foods and great taste.
With Robert heading up the Orange County presence and opening up the first brick and mortar store in San Clemente, Pete’s focus is ensuring that San Diego County is covered for catering, events, and the like. The goal is to share their product throughout Orange and San Diego Counties locally at farmers markets, races, street fairs, and corporate events. Once you try it, you’ll know what all the hype is… Yeeew!

McKeon previously worked as a nutritional consultant for local businesses and organizations, including Scripps Health’s Employee Wellness Program. She has also helped local restaurants implement plant-based menus. “Everything we do, from our food to our packaging, all has sustainability in mind,” says McKeon. “We just want to do our part in paving the way for other companies to follow suit and make more sustainable choices.”

We are Mark and Rebekah Stogsdill, the husband and wife team that started Happy Pantry. We began selling pickles and other tasty fermented goods at farmers markets in and around San Diego County in 2010.
We saw something missing in the local food system and wanted to give our community access to the wonderfully delicious and incredibly healthy world of fermented products that we had become accustomed to enjoying at home. As fermentation became more and more mainstream, health practitioners and wellness gurus alike started using a new term that we hadn’t really heard before, “gut health”. As it turns out, not only are fermented foods (like sauerkraut and kimchi) and beverages (like kombucha and kvass) delicious, but they are also incredibly good for you. We ferment in small batches and are the only people to handle your products from start to finish. We produce, package, and ship directly to you from our small kitchen and not some giant warehouse.

We met in circa 2012 we quickly learned we both LOVED playing with food and sharing new flavors with friends. It started with simple small dinners in Jasmine’s tiny apartment in Leucadia, Ca. We would sit around the table with our friends eating and sharing in joyful moments. We knew we had something special that we wanted to share with more people. The sauces became the star of the show, friends started requesting sauce to take home and that’s when our business was birthed.
Word got out that we had the liquid gold cheeze sauce, friends started sharing with other friends and deals started to go down in a back alley in Leucadia. We gained attention from local stores that were excited to carry our products. We built up momentum once we joined social media and local farmers markets. We are currently focused on the cheeze sauce but we have many new spreads and sauces to come. Stay tuned for the growth of Nomad Eats.
We love preparing food with our sauces. We have started to branch out as a mobile food vendor at local vegan community events so we could share the full experience of Nomad Eats. We want to share the joy of eating whole food plant based. Nomad Eats is about that little happy dance you do when you eat something delicious. Sometimes you eat food that is so good it makes you want to move your body and smile.

Plantiful-Kitchen is my company and we make great tasting, natural desserts and treats. All of our products are gluten free, vegan, and refined sugar free (we use coconut nectar, coconut sugar, and maple syrup – depending on the recipe). I believe in delicious and healthy. That’s our specialty.

Sam’s Kitchen was founded by San Diego native Sam Garcia in 2011 to provide home and professional catering in the North County area. Sam has been in the food/catering business since the year 2000 and she’s catered for weddings, local companies including renowned video game studios like High Moon Studios, and other corporate clients.
Along the way she’s developed a loyal following of customers who order from her home catering service each week. Sam has been catering out of a professional home kitchen for the past 10 years and now is bringing her expertise to her first restaurant. Sam loves to cook every kind of food – from Mexican, Greek, Italian, South American, and many others, but she has a special passion for creating her unique take on Mexican food.
Sam started her career in the year 2000 in this very deli when it was named Pickles Cafe & Deli and she’s now following her dream by taking the reins to bring her own take on Mexican American comfort food to Carlsbad.
